What does an initial session look like?
What does an initial session look like?
The goal of an initial session is to better understand your current symptoms and how they are impacting you on a daily basis. This will inform a collaborative intervention plan through a better understanding of your strengths and needs. A core component of an initial session is also taking time to get to know each other and make sure that you feel a sense of safety and trust. This is critical, as it will enable you to be open and honest in the therapeutic context; a key to facilitating meaningful change. It is also important in an initial session to establish what your goals and expectations of therapy are in order to move forward together with an effective treatment plan.
