OCD Assessment and Intervention
OCD Assessment and Intervention
During her training Dr. Siegal worked as a research assistant/practicum student at the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre, a centre of excellence in intervention and research on OCD and related conditions. During her time there she was involved in research projects investigating treatments for OCD and the genetic correlates of the condition. She had the privilege of working with North American experts in psychiatry and psychology, learning a great deal about the complexity of the condition as well as evidence-based interventions designed for OCD. In addition, Dr. Siegal focused her dissertation (PhD research project) on a novel treatment for couples where one partner had OCD. She feels passionate about her work with individuals who struggle with OCD, recognizing how profound the suffering can be in this context. She works with individual patients to tailor an approach that best suits them. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and integrates elements of mindfulness-based interventions and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in approaching difficult exposures while addressing broader factors that may reinforce OCD symptoms
